Domingo filosofico:

Mi maestro vio a un escorpión cuando se estaba ahogando y decidió sacarlo del agua, pero cuando lo hizo, el alacrán lo picó. De la reacción de dolor, el maestro lo soltó y el animal cayó al agua y se estaba ahogando de nuevo. El maestro intentó sacarlo otra vez y otra vez el animal lo pico. Alguien que estaba viendo al maestro se le acercó y le dijo:

- ¡Pero usted en verdad que es terco! ¿Que no ve que cada vez que intenta sacarle del agua le va a picar?
El maestro respondió:
- La naturaleza del escorpión es picar, y la mía, que es ayudar. Ninguno va a cambiar.
Así que esta tercera vez con la ayuda de unas hojas, el maestro sacó al escorpión y termino por salvarle la vida.

Otra historia:

Una ranita paseandose por el granero, pasa justo en mal momento por detras de una vaca y le cae una gran masa de caca encima. LA ranita gritando "Ayuda, ayuda!!", llama la atencion de un aguila, quien termina por sacarla, pero para tragarsela.

Los prejuicios de que alguna vez fuimos picados por escorpiones nos hace dejar de sacar gentes del agua, o tomar oportunidades, "no vaya a ser un cantamañanas, o un vendedor de aceite de vivora, o..." La verdad es que el mundo esta lleno tanto de amenazas, oportunistas abusivos como de oportunidades, derrepente nos cae mierda del cielo y no toda la mierda es perdición, ni todo quien nos saque de ella es un salvador.

Finalmente, como todo en al vida, es cosa de ver, visualizar, medir los riesgos, y nunca dejar pasar ninguna oportunidad, y si no se da, pues no pasa nada.

Mi abuelo decía: "si no compras boleto de la lotería, nunca te la vas a ganar", y "no por miedo a los cuervos vamos a dejar de sembrar."

Philosophical Sunday:

My teacher saw a drowning scorpion, and chose to pull it out. It stung him, so he let it go and it fell again into the water. My teacher tried at it again, and got stung yet again. Someone walking by told him: 

Well, stubborn you are! Can´t you see that will happen everytime you try and help it?

My teacher responded:

his nature is to sting. My nature is to help. Neither will change.

Third time around, took some leaves, took the scorpion out saving his life.

Another story:

A little frog jumping around a barn, jumps at the time a large piece of bullcrap falls behind the cow on top of the frog. The frog starts to scream out for help "help, help!", a flying eagle spots it, picks it up, and eats it.

Prejudgment from the times we've been stung by scorpions makes each of us to avoid pulling people out of the water, or rather take opportunities. "he's just another snakeoil salesman, or ... whatever". Truth is, the world is full of both threats, abusive opportunists and real opportunities. From time to time we find ourselves in a pool of bullcrap. But not all bullcrap is a loss, nor everyone pulling us out will be our salvation.

At the end of the day, as everything in life is matter of visualizing, measuring the risks and never ever leave a chance go by. If nothing happens, well, nothing happened anyway.

Grandfather used to say: "You can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket",  and  "not for fear of the crows we won't sow. always sow anyway."

Son algunos de los mejores coaches de la historia del deporte Estadounidense. Como cualquier coach  sabe suficiente de como jugar el juego. Pero mas que otra cosa, tienen la habilidad de visualizacion. De observar al contrincante y sus debilidades. De observar la cancha y cachar sus defectos; observar a sus jugadores y conocer tanto sus virtudes como sus defectos. 

El ultimo de la lista, Vince Lombardi -hablo de el porque soy fan del Football americano- es uno de los coaches con mas victorias en la historia del juego. Co-creo la franquicia de la NFL.

Sin embargo, ninguno de los nombrados en la lista anterior jamas anoto un punto en la cancha.Esto es completamente comparable a la materia de lo que hacemos los  consultores. No vamos a hacerles competencia o carreritas a ver si se mejor que tu -mi cliente- de tu materia. No necesito saber cocinar para saber que un restaurante va a quebrar porque tiene un mal servicio (chequen mi post viejito de restaurante). O cualquier otra industria para ese efecto. Ejemplos hay suficientes mis queridos lectores en mis otros posts.

Es ser estratega para aprovechar lo aprovechable con lo que tienes mas lo mio, teniendo la visión y perspectiva mucho mas amplia y fresca pues como se dice: 

 "Dos cabezas piensan mejor que una, cuatro ojos ven mejor que dos, y cuatro manos hacen mas que dos."

"si quieres llegar rápido, ve solo. Quieres llegar lejos y bien, vamos acompañados" - proverbio africano

Todo depende de la perspectiva

These are some of the best coaches in american sport history. As any good coach knows enough as to how to play the game. But most of all have the vision skill. To observe the opponent and their weaknesses, to observe the field and catch its defects; to observe ones players and know their pros and weaknesses.

The last one, Vince Lombardi - I talk a bit about him because I am a Football fan- was one of the most victorious coaches in the history of the game. He created the NFL.

But how funny it is that None of this awesome coaches scored a point on the field. EVER.

This is comparable to what we consultants do. We are not going to compete or race who is better me or you -my client- in your expertise. I do not need to know how to cook to know that you have a failing restaurant because of lousy service (please check my older post regarding a restaurant case) . Or any other industry for that matter. Examples are plenty in my other posts.

It is being a strategist to take advantage of what YOU have with what I have, having a broader perspective and a fresher sight.  As they say:

"Two heads think better than one, four eyes see better than two, and four hands do better than two"

"If you want to get there  fast, go at it alone. If you want to go far and well, lets go together" - African Proverb
