Pessimists, realists, & idealists... I´d rather make a panda // pesimistas, realistas e idealistas... prefiero hacer un panda

La reflexión de hoy nace de que algunos me han preguntado, "bueno y porque tanto pleito con los contadores  y financieros??"  Quienes me conocen saben que la contaduría y las finanzas no tengo nada en contra, pero si contra la cuadradez...

Christopher Lloyd lo describe de una forma muy interesante: "los soñadores necesitamos a los pesimistas para que nos aterricen al al realidad, de vez en vez... los pesimistas necesitan a los soñadores para llenarles el espíritu de esperanza y de fe, para que se permitan a si mismos, de vez en cuando, a soñar". - M.Y. Morris redondea la idea de forma maravillosa: "El poder soñar es esencial para vivir, no solo navegar por los días sin esperanzas de nada. Eso es estar muerto. Ahora, soñar todo el tiempo por mas exquisito que sea, tengo que comer."

Hay un chiste que dice: "el pesimista dice que el vaso esta vacío;  El optimista que esta medio lleno y muy bonito; El realista dice mitad agua y mitad aire, un pedazo de cristal muy útil  El oportunista se lo toma a escondidas dejando a todos sin nada, mas que aire. dándole la razón al pesimista..."

Los innovadores y creativos somos soñadores y muchos muy realistas, las profesiones características son muchas... La realidad es que no pretenderé, como la gran mayoría de la humanidad, en prejuzgar o clasificar a nadie de ninguna forma. No tengo ese derecho. -

De cualquier manera, somos caras opuestas de la misma moneda. El que cada lado de la moneda vea cosas que el otro lado no, no significa que no existan.

A que viene todo esto: Si coincidimos que sin innovación las empresas se mueren (El augurar la muerte de algo no se puede ser muy soñador, ¿No?).  Y Si coincidimos entonces que el mayor riesgo de todos es no hacer nada (o a medias), mucho, pero mucho mas que cualquier iniciativa de innovación bien hecha, aunque FALLE, el peor escenario JAMAS llevará la empresa a la quiebra. El no hacer nada (o a medias) SI, queridos cuadradistas...


Entonces estimados cuadrados: la innovación bien hecha, bien ejecutada tiene metodologías  formas, controles y estudios, Es toda un ciencia... Sólo que no como ustedes los esperan o conocen.... Eso no quiere decir que no tengan formas de minimizar riesgos!

Mi pregunta, un tanto retórica de hoy es: Yo no me voy a meter con su contabilidad o leyes (u lo que sea, a menos que ese sea el proyecto...),  ¿Porqué entonces se meten en querer controlar la innovación??  Será porque presumen de saber hacerlo, sin embargo no hacen nada..? es decir, su ego u orgullo no les permite extender la mano pidiendo ayuda..? Tal vez sea la rutina diaria o algun otro pretexto... mejor, porque no extienden la mano, pues no hay pretexto que valga.

Today´s reflection my dear readers is based on a question I've been asked: "What's your beef against accountants, lawyers and financeers?" Those who know me know that it's not accounting, lawyering or finances per se, it's about being too square.

Christopher Lloyd describes it very nicely: "we dreamers need pessimists to get grounded, from time to time... Pessimists need dreamers to fill their spirit of hope, to allow themselves to dream, from time to time " - and M.Y. Morris rounds it up beautifully with " Dreaming is essential to live, not only coast through life without hope. That is being dead. To dream all day is exquisite, but I still have to eat."

There's a joke that goes: "pessimists say the glass is empty. The optimist that it is half full and really nice. The realist says half water, half air a useful piece of glass. The opportunist drinks it hidden leaving everybody without water, making the pessimists point true"

We innovators and creatives are dreamers, and many of us are realists too. Some professions are characteristic.. but truth is, I will never pretend as most of human kind does, to preconceive or judge into classifying anybody in anyway. I do not have that right over anybody.

Anyway, we are oposit sides of the same coin. For each side sees differently than the other does not mean it doesn't exist.

So what is the point, If we do agree that without innovation businesses, corporations and organizations die. (can't be too much of a dreamer if I omen death, can I?) So why won't you squareheads leave us to innovate for you?? If we agree that the biggest risk is doing nothing (or half ass), then any well executed innovation initiative, even if it FAILS, the worst scenario will NEVER take the business into bankruptcy . Doing nothing (or half ass) WILL, my dear squares...

So, my dearest squares, Well executed innovations have metrics, methodologies, plenty of OUR controls, and studies... It is a complete science... It's just that, not like you'd expect or know... That does not mean we don't know what we are doing to minimize your risks!!

So my question today, a tad bit rhetoric then is: I'm not going to mess with your accounting or laws or wahtever (unless that is the project itself...), so Why would you step into our innovation controls? Is it because you think you know but in reality, you do nothing? that is, your own ego won't let you extend your hand asking for help..? Maybe its the everyday routine or any other lame excuse... Why not just extend the hand for help, ´cause there is not a valid excuse in the world.

I'd rather make a panda... Let's make a panda.
